Jan 31 2013 ~ Last day of Jan 2013

It's the last day of the month, I can't believe it, times seems to be going fast but slow all rolled into one. 
So today I got to wash my hair after my Brazilian Keratin therapy treatment, here's some pictures of my few days.

We got some more snow again last night, just another skiff, maybe an inch.  Oh ya DH loves the Snow Blower, and doesn't mind doing the driveway now...=)

Jan 30 2013 ~

Today we woke up to snow, and it looked like it would snow forever, but it has stopped.  I'm thinking my DH is so glad we got the Snow blower, he just did the driveway last night and now there's more then yesterday, I think we got maybe 2-3 inches...it sure does make the sights pretty around here.

The organizers for the Iditarod sled dog Race I'm sure are happy to see more snow, and with the Canadian's we are planning on going on a Sled Dog outing in March but I heard it may be cancelled do to slippery ice conditions, so fingers crossed the snow keeps coming, I need to take that off my Bucket List.

Yesterday on Face Book I saw Sugar cookies, with icing, made from Icing sugar, Water and Jello powder.  Well I made sugar cookies today and tried the icing and it tastes pretty good.  I didn't use the whole Jello powder so will put away for another day.

Jan 29 2013 ~ another day in Alaska...=)

So to write about today, not much going on around here, made Meatballs for dinner, hopefully everyone will like them, they are keeping warm in the crock pot. 

Had a bath today, because my friend put in a treatment into my hair and I can't wash until Thursday, so counting the days to see if it really helps with the Frizz.  I will see soon enough.

Making some headbands/ear warmers for a couple of people, hopefully they like the ones I'm making, I picked up some thread/yarn at Joann's the other day.

It's not to bad weather wise, we got another little skiff of snow again last night, but they are calling for warmer temps again.  We will see how that pans out.

Oh ya DH and I are loving the new show .... The Following with Kevin Bacon in it.  it just started Jan 22, but it's a great suspense show.  Check it out if you haven't already.  Not for kids...don't think  I will let our two watch it.

Couple of things I love my iPhone, the Detroit Red Wings app, and saw this today and it looks so good.

Jan 28 2013 ~ Monday

Hi everyone, so I spent the morning changing the names to protect the innocent...=)  (so my main squeeze is my DH (Dear Husband) and my Son is DS and Daughter is DD)) I will remain that bad @$$ better know as Richelle ... =)   It took longer then expected, I'm not sure why I didn't start this blog like this but it's changed now.

I just want to mention that I love my iPhone, not sure if I have ever let you all know this.  I'm a very bad spelling and writer for that matter, and love that fact, that when Spell check can't figure out what word I'm trying to spell, I can just as my iPhone to spell using the Mico on it....LoVe It!!

So today my friend is coming over to put a brazilian keratin treatment

Oh ya again last night I made the quickest easiest cookies and I love them...the recipe is from an old cook book my mom had way back when I was a kid and she made them alot,  they are so yummy.

Jan 27 2013 ~ Happy Sunday!!

The sun is up, can't see it yet, still behind the mountains, but looks like it's going to be a beautiful day, it's so nice to sleep in both days this weekend.  Some times sleeping in sucks though because it's already 10am and we haven't done a thing.
  So Friday was a great night with the Canadian's at the Base ski hill for Tubing fun.  It was a great turn out, and mother nature pulled through with enough snow to Tube....=) the littler kids tobogganed just beside the Tubing hill, and there was a lot of rosie cheeks that's for sure....=)

I only took two pictures....crazy I know and this one is my son, ready to head out....=)

We heading home around 9pm ish, and when I got home the moon looked so cool that I had to take some pictures of it.

We stayed up for a bit, watching some shows with the kids, then about 11pm I went to bed, DH had a couple cups of coffee, so he stayed up longer and I so glad he did, about 12:30am he woke me up to see Northern Lights.....=)

They are so pretty.....=) they didn't last long really but pretty cool to just lay in bed and watch them....it's starting to get cold again here.  They are calling for snow again on Tuesday.

We have only one hockey game today, but later so that's nice.  Well I hope you have a great Sunday and talk to you soon, =)

Jan 25 2013 ~ Friday

Hi Everyone, it's Friday, the end of another week in Alaska, its a beautiful white looking day again, with a small dusting of snow we had last night. Temps are getting cooler again around here, and the weatherman is calling for a sunny weekend, with snow next week, and cold again.

Been busy writing notes to family today, maybe I will be on time for some Birthdays coming up. Now that I have some down time.  I will just need to buy more stamps...I'm running out already.

DH is sick, he went to work, and had a course all day today, so hopefully he has enough energy to get us back to the base for Tubing with the Canadian's, there will be 70 of us out for the fun tonight, so glad we got more snow, because a couple of weeks ago, there wasn't enough snow to do anything, and I was starting to see grass in some areas.  So fingers crossed he's feeling better.

This weekend we have hockey, just a game on Saturday and one on Sunday, so DH will be happy, for the slower weekend.

Well I just wanted to wish everyone a happy Friday and have a great weekend....take care

Hi, it's mid week in Alaska, time seams to fly by, can't believe Jan is almost in our rear view mirror.  So it was a beautiful day here in Alaska today, we are getting more light every day and it's wonderful.  Here's a link to the first sun rise in Barrow, AK yesterday.....

Residents of Barrow, Alaska watched the sun climb above the horizon for the first time in 65 days, after it set on November 18, 2012. The sun skirted along the southern horizon for about 43 minutes today. Tomorrow it will remain above the horizon for 1 hour and 27 minutes. The amount of sunlight will rapidly increase in Barrow until May 10th, at which point the sun will remain above the horizon for 24 hours a day for nearly 3 months.

It was clear in Barrow today and a FAA webcam captured the short but welcome return of sunshine. Watch the sun trace across the horizon in the video below.

We have more light then that...and every day we get more and more. Looking forward to the summer, with light all day.  I say that now...I may change my mind this summer....=)

So yesterday I made some chocolate cupcakes, and today I made a pumpkin pie.

I talked to my Mom today and she got her phone bill, and will not be face-timing us, or my sisters, she got a $300 bill... so that sucks.    But I love Face Time, you get to see everyone....it make you feel like you are back at their house...etc. 

Oh ya it's 0c today, can't believe it, snow is melting again, hopefully Tubbing with the Canadian's will still be on, the kids can't wait to go.  We went back before Christmas and it was lots of fun.

Good Morning all, so it's another day here Alaska, can't see the day yet, it's still dark, every day it gets lighter out longer in the day. 

We had a great day off yesterday, so nice to just do our own thing, we flooded the ice rink, but will need more work.  Again the weatherman is calling for warmer temps in the next few days...and that's right maybe some more rain.  I can't believe it....we need snow Mother Nature come on.

Jan 20 2013 ~ Sunday

Happy Sunday to you all, another busy day on the home front, well not as busy as yesterday but busy all the same.

Heading to my daughter's hockey game at the Mac at 2pm, she's there now for a birthday skating party, so I'm not sure if it will be good or bad....she may be tuckered out, but I hope not.

I just wanted to say Thank you!!  Some one cleared our ice rink off yesterday when we were at DD's hockey, so that was very nice, when I woke up today and looked out, not sure who did it, but I'm thinking our neighbor??? but hopefully I will find out.  I will have to make some goodies for him or who ever did it.  Thank you again.

Jan 19 2013~ the weekend has arrived

The weekend has arrived and so has hockey....DD just had a game, it was a great game, her team tied 2-2, and Veronica got a goal, her first of the hockey season, it was a great moment....=) Way to go DD!!  Your team gets better every day.  Her coach had a baby last night, a little boy, so we will have a little mascot at the games....=)

It's a beautiful day here in Alaska, with all our new snow, it makes the scenery so magnificent. Love it!!

DD has a game later tonight at our home rink, The Mac so hopefully the kids aren't to tired after today's early game.

Then tomorrow DS has hockey in the am and then DD has another game, so again it's another busy weekend.  But on Monday we will be having our first Martin Luther King Jr. Day, so both the kids and DH are off.  We can't wait to sleep in....=)

Well have a great weekend, PS NHL hockey starts back up today...=) Go Red Wings GO!!

Jan 16 &17 2013 ~ Mid week Snow....=)

Hi everyone, so we finally got a good dump of snow, things are white and pretty in Alaska...=)  DH's thought it was our fault the snow stopped, because we bought the snow blower, but I guess he was wrong.  we got 4-6 inches yesterday, the snow blower worked great, took no time at all, to do the driveway....=)

Today we wake up to more of the white stuff the driveway is full again...=) DD is just starting Choir at school so today is the first day.  She's going to have lots of fun, her dad is calling it Glee.....=)

Jan 15th 2013- Coffee with Can Det Ladies

So today I had coffee at our place, we usually got to a cafe on Tuesday mornings and on Thursday afternoons, today we had a full house, loved it. With 11 of us and 3 boys, not sure we could get a table any how...=)

By the time everyone left it was already close to noon, time flies when your having fun...=)

It's a beautiful day today looks so pretty out, it's getting cold again, so hopefully we get some more snow, I'm not ready for winter to be over yet.

Well have a great day, I'm relaxing now, waiting for everyone to come home from work/school.

Jan 14 2013 ~ No School Monday

Today end up being a no school day, roads to icy for buses, and cars.  Our driveway was like an ice rink, but Carlisle did head out to work. And brought home ice melt...=)  Here's a pictures in one of the papers here.

Thank you "Pineapple Express" we didn't need you that's for sure, and now it's going to get cold again.


So I guess we will see what happens tomorrow with school, I'm having the Canadian Ladies over for Coffee, so hopefully the roads will be better and everyone can make it.

Jan 13 2013 ~ Raining in Alaska

It's Sunday and it's raining, that's right the Pineapple Express has arrived....and has made the roads, and our driveway an ice rink.  It's not good, the lake looks awful as well.

Last night DH didn't attempt to take DS to practice...way to slippery, the Base had BLACK road conditions.  Today they have changed it to RED but our driveway is like an ice rink.

We had an earthquake last night ( well early morning 4.8 about 3:44am, and decided at that time that the roads would be to icy for DD's 7:30am practice.  DH went out with my Kahtoola mid morning and the driveway is just ice.  So I called her coach and we will have to miss her game down town at 1:30pm, not sure how many showed up, 7 showed up to practice.

Well another family day, watched a DVD from 1992 and laughed....DH and I's first Christmas together.

Jan 12 2013 ~ it's the weekend.

Hi everyone, so it's Saturday, we got some snow yesterday, it was just a skiff, and the weather man says the Pineapple Express is coming to town....=(  and he's calling for RAIN that's right we are in Alaska, and will be getting rain....=(  I like the snow, it's so pretty. 

I made Ranger Cookies yesterday, I love making these cookies, they are so good and the batch makes alot, so I left some out for the weekend, I put some away for Coffee on Tuesday at our place and I still could put some in baggies for lunches.

So the other day I was channel surfing, and saw this cool show, about Alaska, here's a link to some of the places they went, it was really cool.

Jan 9th 2013 ~ mid week

Happy Wednesday to you all, earlier today I checked out my facebook account, and I have 4 friends/family members with Birthday's today....so Happy Birthday to you all!!

So first thing this morning, before the alarm clock has even started to beep, DH and I are woken up to a banging sound.....did you hear that we both say?  Did we have an earthquake??  What happened?  So on DH's closer examination, and for those who don't know, our cat is a water hound... he can find it all over the place and reminds us to remove all glass of water or ice cubes, cuz they melt.  And when the ice cubes melt he will find the water and spill it every where.  Any how getting back to the story, DH goes down stairs to find the cats food and water bowls, thrown a far distance from his normal food station area....What the F is going on, how did this happen?  DH did take a picture with his phone, so hopefully I can post that later.  So after cleaning up the food and water, the morning started.

Yesterday I took a few pictures around the house, haven't been doing to much, but staying busy.

Jan 8 2013 at the Lake House

Well off to get DD up and ready for school. I'm thinking of doing some crocheting today, but just have to figure out what to make.  I have been working on a iPhone holder that looking like the Instagram camera. So I will have my phone even when I don't have pockets....=)  I made it free hand with out a pattern so hopefully know one wants one....cause then I will have to figure out how I made this one....=) it's looking super cute.

Jan 7 2013 ~ Happy New Year everyone

So it's Monday and back to school and hockey for the kids and DH is back to work and his hockey will be starting up as well.

Derek went home late Saturday night, we had a great visit with him, we wished we lived closer to spend more time together.

We missed all family and friends far from us this holiday season, but love our new friends for making it feel like home.  Technology has come so far, and with Facetime on our Iphones, love to see family and spend time with them.

I have to go and get lunches made and I'm thinking about taking down our Christmas tree and decorations....I don't want to....after I take them down it seems so bare around.  I love the fake tree for this exact reason.
