Feb 19 2014 ~ The Snow is BACK!!

Hello there,

Today we woke up to 3-5 inches of snow, can't remember the last time we got that much snow is a long time.  It's garbage day and I couldn't even pull the can up the driveway it was so deep.  So sorry to my neighbors, I started the snow blower about 6am, had to get the snow off the driveway before I drove on it....also had to watch the Canada Men's hockey game at 8am, so wanted to get it done and I was up.  They ended up winning with a score of 2-1 and it was a nail bitter until the second goal....Latvia played awesome.  So Friday at 8:00am Canada plays USA.....can't wait to watch the rival teams go at it...=)

So after the game I went snow shoeing around the lake, and it was so pretty out that I went back up and grabbed my camera.  I saw an eagle and then I'm not sure if it was the same one, but just before heading in I saw another eagle.

Some days I wish I had a really big lens to get up close, but am happy with this photo from afar. The other day the neighbor sent me a note asking if I had a critters out...because she could see an eagle checking things out.... our cat had been out...but had found a place to hide under the front deck.  No I don't really want to let him out.....don't want that to be the way he leaves us.

After getting back I had lunch a tea, warmed up a bit then headed out to do the ice rink.....I knew it was going to be a job, with the blowing snow along the edges and then 3 inches on top of that.  It's all ready for the kids to skate....and it's not that cold today either....hint hint....=)

So tomorrow is DD's play practice....they are doing it for the school, then Friday the show starts at 7pm.....wonder if I can video tape it since DH is away or maybe they will sell the cds.

Well got to go pick up DD at one of the last play rehearsals, for this school season....=)  do i buy flowers to give her???/ just thought about that.....I guess I better think about that....bye for now

Feb 5 2014 ~ It's getting cold again up here!!

Hi Everyone,

It's been a bit of a stressful week, my Dad was admitted to the hospital and had to get a Pacemaker.  He had the operation today, and when I talked to him tonight he was hoping to get out tomorrow.  But this will depend on what the doctor thinks.  So gratefully for everyone's thoughts and prayers getting us through this difficult time.

Mom and Dad 2011
We have been busy with regular after school and kid related activities.

The run off water is frozen again with our temperatures dropping again. And the kids have been out skating.

They have put out a weather alert to watch for us here...seems so weird because it's winter....but they are calling high fire  chances.....High winds as well....crazy!!!

Last day of January 2014

Hi again, welcome back, I can't believe it's the last day of the month.  Our colder temperatures are back, but the sun has been out the last few days and our days are getting longer and longer and it's amazing to see DS and he's friend skating on the lake rink.  The rink is in pretty good shape considering the weather we have been having.  Warm weather!!!

So DS's hockey is done for the school year, he's going to miss it, and will need to keep grades up in order to play again next season.

DH comes home from Canada tomorrow night, so I wonder what Canadian goodies he will brings us.  I'm getting used to the different foods they have here in Alaska and I'm not really missing to many things from Canada.  Miss family and being around for difficult happening with my family.  But with FaceTime and calls, things seem better.

Thinking of my Dad, he's in the hospital, waiting to get a pacemaker.  He's feeling pretty good, just has to wait for a bed in Victoria, and then will wait for the operation.  Hoping this happens fast, so he can get back to his list of thing to do....you know a honey do list...or should I say a Lake do list!!  There's never a dull moment around the lake, always remember when the kids were little and we would go to the lake and go on one of Dad's adventures.  DS loved it!!  Love you lots Dad xoxo

Been working out with my friend, who has a gym in her basement.  I'm back at running and love it, wish the roads didn't have as much ice built up on the roads, but was nice to have the warm weather to go some of the build up ice to disappear.
