July 29 2014 ~ Beautiful day today....for the moment

Where are you summer?  We had a magnificent May, and then summer disappeared....=(  we have been having a nice day here and there, but not that's great.  Hopefully Aug will be better, just in time for the kids to go back to school mid month.

July 25, we had an amazing sun set and rainbow.

Last weekend Saturday we went to the Air Show, it's every two year here, it was lots of fun, haven't been to a show in some time....miss the planes...wish we lived closer to see and hear them more....but we have the Float Planes at the Lake House...=)

So Monday DS and I went to town to get his social, a bank account and tried to get his Learner permit, but now we have to wait for his Social to come in....OMG it's frustrating living here in AK some times.  So we wait 4 or so weeks, hopefully he will be learning to drive before the snow starts around here.

Well that's all for today, can't believe it's going to be Aug 2014 in a couple of days...

July 25 2014 ~ Summer where are you?

So as I sit here typing the sun seems to be shining, but it's been raining for the last couple of days....=( and earlier today it was raining Cats and Dogs....maybe Salmon...it's that time of year around here.

DS went on a Fishing Adventure to Dillingham Alaska, with a friend and his dad, seems like he had a great time....Set netting in the Bristol Bay area. He even got to meet Todd Palin and their daughter Piper....and some of Todds family.

DH went Dip netting with acouple friends down to the Kenai and spent the weekend, and didn't get one fish....not may being caught around them....=(  You have to live in Alaska for a year you can go hang out on in the River or Ocean with a big net and catch fish....there are certain areas to fish and rules, but he had a fun time....Bigger net a must next year....=)

DD has been reading up a storm, we went to the library and she got her own card....and you should of seen her face when the librarian said she was aloud to take out 50 books at a time....she didn't take that many but she seemed happy...=)

I have been doing some crocheting seeings how it's been cold....and it's getting darker every night....you know what that means.....
PS Snow has started falling in higher elevations and high areas in Alaska


So I did make the Friendship bread and gave two starter kits away so far....I have one more and then in 10 days I will have 3 more to give away.

Thinking about making some Amish Friendship Bread....=)

 I remember a few years back, when our kids where smaller and lived in the Valley I got a starter kit for bread from a friend....maybe it was my sister, I can't remember exactly. So yesterday we went on a Kenai Fjords Nat'l Park Cruise and meet acouple from the lower 48....I forget the town.  Any ways I was talking to them about the bread...I couldn't remember the name, but today I looked it up and found this Tutorial and recipe.  So I'm going to start one off.  If you live in my area and want a starter let me know....It will be in 10 days...=)

July 5 2014 ~ Another Beauty of a day here in Alaska

Yesterday we celebrated July 4th with our American friends, DD her friend and I took part in the Chugiak Parade, the kids had fun giving out candy to everyone on the Parade route.  I was a warm sunny day.....=)

DS is Fishing with hes friend and having a great time....they had 3 days off, because the fish weren't running....so hopefully it picks up.  It's better then having him laying around saying his bored, or playing his play-station.

We are planning on going to Independence Mine maybe today, and check out Hatcher Pass....the last time we went that way it was snowy and cold. and the Mine wasn't even open, yet....now we know that it doesn't open until June.

We celebrated Canada at the Base with our Canadian families here in Alaska, we had the farewell party at the same time.

So today I have been busy painting a desk and stand up mirror, we got from our friends leaving to go back to Canada.  Need to get some stain and then finish them up....DD what's me to do her dresser and side table next...=) 

We are still dog sitting ... the ball obsessed Jesse....=) he's lots of fun. 

Our friends daughter is staying with us for a few days, and today the weather was beautiful...hopefully the next few will be as well....for July 4th celebrations. We may head to watch some fireworks tomorrow night....well it's actually tonight...=) 

Okay I have to head to bed...have a great week and weekend ....=)
