Feb 27 2013 ~ mid week in Alaska page 1

Hi everyone, so I can't believe that tomorrow is the last day of February, time is just flying by, our years in Alaska will be flying by, it's getting closer to our 1yr here, July will be here before we know it. Lots to do right now Iron Dog race, Fur Rondy, and the Iditarod race starts on Sunday.  Our days have been warm and snow melts during the day and then freezes again, making for icy conditions.

Feb 25 2013 ~ Another Manic Monday

Hi Everyone, how are you today?  We had another busy weekend, they all seem to be whizzing by, can't believe it's already the last week in Feb, it's a short month but still.

DS had his State Hockey Tournament this weekend, and they play great just didn't have any wins.  Maybe next year boys.  So hockey is over for him, I can't believe that, I guess my DD will be done mid March as well.  Then we will be able to get some of our bucket list winter activities checked off our list.

Everyday we are getting more and more day light, it's looking to be a wonderful day today with the blue skies above.  We had a cold night with the moon out when we went to bed and when we woke up, the moon looked so full, I'm not sure if it was a full moon.  We also looked out for Northern Lights last night before going to bed but didn't see any.  They may have appeared later in the night, but we didn't see them.

DH and DD's went to the Alaska Aces Hockey game last night, with some of DD's hockey team.  They got to skate on the ice after and get autographs, DD got her Mustang jersey signed by them.

Feb 22 2013 ~ Snowy day in Alaska

Up for another Hockey tournament, DS's State Tournament, they are playing 2 games today, and I can't go to either one.  But I'm sending winning vibes from here. 

We have been waking up to snow every morning...it's really beautiful, loving it, now this is what Alaska winter weather is like.  We are so glad to have the snow blower, makes life alot easier....=)

Feb 19 2013 ~ Another sunny Tuesday in Alaska

Good Afternoon Everyone,
Just got back from coffee with the Canadian ladies, great to see everyone, time seems to be flashing by so quickly. 

Talked with one of my CAN friends about getting together and taking pictures some time...LOVE IT!!
I my join a photography club here in town, with her, and maybe another friend interested in Photography.  So may beautiful sites around here to photograph. 

It's a cooler but sunny day here in Alaska, love how pretty things look with the sun shining on to the snow.  DH cleared off the skating ice yesterday, the kids had a day off, they skated most of the day, even had their sweat shirts off, with short sleeve shirts on. It was a beautiful 1st President's day holiday for us here. 

Well off to do some crocheting, making chair booties for a friend, have a great day take care

Feb 16 2013- Happy Birthday to my Sister yesterday!!

Happy Birthday to you sister yesterday, she's getting closer to the BIG 4-0!!  One more year, and then she will be in our club.  Brother in Law joins this year in March.  It's hard to believe we are in this club, seems so old, I remember my parents turning 40 and I thought it was so OLD then.  It's just another Circle of Life moments I guess...

Our son's hockey team is in a Tournament this weekend, and yesterday, lost a game and then tied the next.  They have their next game at 1pm today, but DH and kids had plans with our Canadian friends to go skiing, so he will miss his game today, and then see if they play on Sunday.

We have been having snow for the last couple of days, like the weather man said, winter weather has arrived.  We are so glad to have the snow blower, makes shoveling the driveway a way smaller chore.

We haven't been doing the ice rink, the kids haven't been wanting to skate, well really we haven't had much time at all with hockey and all other activities.  Would also be nice if the kids each at a spare pair of skates, to use for the lake ice, to save on the arena skates getting dull faster then necessary.

Feb 13 2012 ~

Hi everyone, so it's a bright day here in Alaska, yesterday i made more Sugar Cookies, DD is going to take them to her class tomorrow for Valentines Day. 

I added more crocheted items to my RMhats site today, been trying to use up my Stash of yarn I have around here.  I just posted on my RM hats facebook site a message to ask what people would like to see me crochet.  I just want to see what people would like to see me make.  I wanted to make a poll, but I'm not sure how to make it on the site.

Not much going on around here, oh ya it's getting brighter...so that is really nice, not that I found it bad here this winter for dark days.  I'm sure every year is different.

Feb 11 2013 ~ Happy Birthday to my Sister in Law!!

Monday again, it's my sister in Law's birthday, wish we could celebrate with her and the family.  Happy Birthday !

We had a busy weekend of hockey, my DD in a Tournament, they played 2 games on Friday and lost both, then won early in the morning and ended up playing another game.  They didn't have the best weekend, and ended up losing the second game, and that was the end for her team.

DS had just a hockey practice, so that was nice to not have to much hockey.  Busy weekend coming up with more hockey tournaments.

I just finished making the treat above, it was okay, not sure I'm going to make it again, but saw the idea on Pinterest.

We got snow again last night, about 1-1 1/2 inches.  DH off today, so had fun snow blowing the driveway.

I have been crocheting lots of things check out my site to see all the items...going to be taking pictures today.

Feb 8 2013 ~ Friday

Another early morning today, lots to do.  My daughters team played hockey at 9:15am and lost 6-1, we had 4 shots on goal and they had 41...they played Delta Huskies.  Her team play tonight at 5:15pm hopefully they do better.  Her one coach took 10 pairs of skates to get sharpened...my daughters was one of them.  They had a practice on the out door rink and I think it didn't help.  Any how we will see what happens later tonight.

We are in charge of snack tomorrow AM, for after the game, so we stopped at Costco and picked up some juice, cheese sticks and a Kellogg bar.  We will see how her team does, it maybe over tomorrow,  Here's the other games that may happen.

Possibility of Games during this tournament:

February 9^th – Quarter Finals are at 3:45 pm, 4:00 pm, 5:00 pm, & 5:15 pm

February 10^th – Semi Finals are 8:00 am and 8:15 am

February 10^th – Championship is at 1:30 pm

Well off to do some crocheting before picking up DD for her next game.  have a great weekend.

Feb 6 2013 ~ Middle of the week...and it's snowing

Good Morning to you all, late night on the news they said we were going to get 1-3 inches of snow.  So woke up and didn't see any snow, then heard the garbage truck looked out the window and in his lights, I see snow.  It's really coming down now, so maybe we will get the snow the weather man called for.  That's good, because we need more snow for all the out door things coming up. I thought winter was coming to an end, but I guess I was wrong.  Oh ya on Groundhog Day, we have Marmot Day because we don't have Groundhogs here in Alaska,

And the Marmot/Porcupine said we are going to have an early spring, so we will see if it was right.
Last year here they had record snowfall, but not this year.

Monday early morning my son woke up getting sick, I didn't even hear him, my husband did, we was sick all day and my husband got sick as well.  I didn't get sick but felt bad all day, like I was going to get sick but didn't.  I started getting better about 4pm, my husband still go sick about then, and my son, got better about 8pm, but I have him home today just to make sure he's okay.  He's really mad, because he's the only one out of us 4 that got the flu shot.  Well he got the nasal spray.  So he says he's not getting the flu shot next year.

Feb 4 2013 ~ Another Monday down

Good Morning everyone.  So my big beef for the day...Stamps going up...I hate this every year I get stamps for Christmas, and then after the new year I mail things via snail mail, and they come back because of not enough postage.....so .85 cents is now $1.10 so now I have to go to the post office and get extra postage ...to make up the $1.10 grrr....and this happens every year.  Well in Canada I had bought the permanent price stamps and that was nice.

Busy weekend around here again, well not so busy but the weekend seems to whiz by, like always.  My friend on Facebook posted a things saying, she wished there was a day in between Saturday and Sunday...I think this would work for me as well...how about you?

Each of the kids had a hockey game on the weekend, with us going to a Superbowl Party Sunday at friends. We had lots of fun, mingling with friends and watching the game, we also celebrated our friends birthday.  There was a lot of food, and loved them all, some favorites for the kids was a Rice Krispy bowl, lined with Chocolate, then filled with a peanut butter dip.  So any others couldn't choose on I didn't like... =)

Last night leaving my son's hockey game, it was raining that's right raining, we are in Alaska and it was raining.  What's up with this?  I know I have said it before and I will say it again now, I love snow, I want more snow, I'm not sick of it one bit.
It's 0c now or 30f ... looks like no snow for the next few days.

Well I have to go have a shower then make a shopping list for groceries, the cupboards are bare....just like in this old tale:
