Hi me again, our summer is here in Alaska, it's amazing what a few sunny warm days can do....our trees are getting greener along with the grass, and the ice melted while we were away for the weekend. If we had a garden I'm sure it would be loving this weather.
I have been down, not feeling well the last few days. but I'm on the mend, but still cold. Our house temp says 65 inside....it could be a bit warmer....=) warm clothes and tea are still on my list of must haves.
Today we went to a CAN-AM hockey game, it was a great game, with us Canadian's winning. I took a few pictures so I'm working on them now.
Tomorrow is Saturday another busy weekend, hopefully the weather holds for the weekend festivities.

May 27 2013 ~ Memorial Day Weekend
Friday we left town for a camping adventure with our Canadian friends posted with us here in Alaska, we went to a town called Sterling. We usually tent in Canada, and with the cool temperatures here, we decided to rent a cabin. It was wonderful and the weather was a lot warmer then I thought it was going to be so didn't pack summer wear. We had alot of fun, hanging out, fishing, roasting Smores.....and so on and on....=)
We got home today and most of the ice is melted from the lake, but a bit in the shaded areas. Across the lake at the Picnic Area it was packed with people. DS after catching fish, headed out with the boat and fishing rod, when we got home today, but didn't get anything.
DD's been sick on and off this weekend, so hopefully she's better tomorrow, alot of late nights and junk food didn't help I'm sure.
So School's out for the Summer head, not sure what we will be up to, but I'm sure it will go fast.
So as I'm typing this it's 11:36pm and it's not dark yet. it's so weird and screws with your mind, but it's better the darkness that's for sure.
I hope to keep this up over the summer, but I'm sorry if I don't....sometimes LIFE gets in the way of Blogging.

May 20 2013
Red Wings are playing in 10 mins....Go Wings Go!!
Had a busy couple of days, with snow on Friday and Saturday, playing some poker with friends...well DH did, I just sat around shouting the %$*@, DH came second in the first game.
Sunday we slept in, I got up at 10am, with the sun going down so late, I'm having trouble getting to sleep. It's crazy. Kids are finished school on Thursday, can't believe that. I guess with the snow, it still seems like winter around here. =) So snow is again off the grass, still in some shady areas, so hopefully this is spring.
We went hiking/Geo Caching on Sunday, just to some local trails, not far from our place.
We found 2 of the three Caching, will have to find the third another time...to many Muggles (not Geo Cachers).
We finished off the night with Shrimp and pasta for dinner.
Today I did running around, dropping off recycling, we are going to get it picked up at our house, but haven't' gotten around to it. Way different recycling here in Alaska, so we have more garbage here then when we lived in BC. Oh ya and no deposit or Recycling Fees, or GST...pop is pricey here though.
It's another beautiful day here in Alaska, washed the car and will wash the other one when DH gets home from work....okay well maybe tomorrow....the game is on....=) I guess it's light until about 11pm so I could wash it after the game...=)

Just seeing the sun popping out after our snow day yesterday into the night and earlier today....we got 2 inches or more, our grass and trees are covered again with the white stuff.
We set records for longest snow season....last year they broke records for snowfall.
It's looking beautiful outside so bright you have to wear shades. Wonder how long this snow will last.
School is out for the summer on Thursday, it seems so early, especially with the snow.
Just watched our Detroit Red Wings win in the second round of the playoffs against Black Hawks....they are heading to Hockey Town for 2 games.
Well have a great day, Long Weekend for my Canadian friends...=)

Hi Everyone, I can't believe it's May 16th already. 1 week until the kids are done school, unless there's summer school for our DS.
It's been cold here according to the weatherman (news), our lake still have alot of ice, but it's melting around the edges, not suitable for walking at all. Last week I watched a Moose fall into the lake, and I thought I would have to send out for the calvary but he managed to get out.
I have been out walking and biking, but it's really a bit chilly and have to wear gloves. The kids are enjoying their time here in the yard. =) At our last house it didn't have a place to ride bikes etc....
I have been trying to remember to take pictures every day for my 365 project, but find it hard some days.
Well just wanted to post an update, we are all plugging along in the Alaskan way of life....=)
ps Mosquito, Sea gulls, Canadian Geese and a whole lot of other birds are back, but winter isn't over, Studded tires have to be off by now, and they are calling for 2-4 inches of snow this weekend...crazy.

May 7 2013 ~ Tuesday
Good Morning!!
It's a descent day here in my neck of the woods....while walking to the school bus DD and I saw 2 Moose...they may have been the two baby and Mama, but not sure. Thank you to the guys driving the Sears truck...I'm not sure we would have seen them if they hadn't slowed for us to see them.
I didn't get my iphone out in time so no pictures this time....I may have to bring my big camera for our morning walks just in case.
On Saturday it snowed here, maybe an inch or so, but now our snow is almost gone, and the lake is melting. Can't go on the ice by our dock area. I took some pictures on Monday night of the big crevasses in the ice by the neighbors lake edge....here's a few
Not doing much today, I do have to make some cookies for DD's school on Friday, so may do those and put in Freezer until then.
Oh ya Laundry needs done around here again....the never ending pile of clothes awaits.....

Hello there, how are you today? I'm doing good, got up early and out the door, it's been not very nice the last few days with rain. The snow is disappearing, slowly but surely. I saw the neighbor on the lake today with a rod, I think checking to see the depth of the ice. He has a float plane so he's seeing if the ice could hold it I'm sure. Been watching the lake every day and taking pictures getting ready for our first Break Up here in Alaska. It's late this year, a friend that's lived here for 8yrs told me yesterday that he had a fishing trip planned but because of the ice had to cancel it.
The kids are still enjoying our yard and road area, playing with bikes and scooters, just about every night, rain or shine. We did have our first fire the other night, with smores.....so we will be having many of those I'm sure....down fall to this is you smell like smoke....=(
Making Chili for dinner, it's been a while, and DD is going to a Birthday Party and she hates Chili so thought it was a great day for it....=)
Well I will talk to you later have a great day....have to go and take my photo of the day, for my 365day challenge.

May 2 2013 ~ it's snowing that's right snowing
Hi everyone, just picked up my Joy of Gardening book, but looked outside to the snow....I'm thinking it will be a long ways off. Our snow is disappearing, and the lake looks like a slushy mess.
I have been fighting a stupid cough...and it's driving me up the wall....just had a nice cup of Lemon Tea with honey, hopefully it leaves soon.
Went for a walk to the other side of the lake (on the road), I wasn't thinking about bears until our neighbor said do you want to take my dog....I don't want to scare you she says.....I guess the hungry bears are up....and not much for them to eat. I haven't seen any sign of bears, and I don't want to. Her dog wouldn't walk with me, I don't know her enough.
I took some pictures of the lake, it's really thin around the edges in spots.....I'm not going on the ice, but still see the neighbor walk it every day and have been seeing people fishing out at the other end.
